Nature: Structure Fire – Assist Lewes (82)

Location: 18216 Show Jumper Lane Lewes, DE 19958

On January 1^st, the Indian River (80), Rehoboth Beach (86) and Milton (85) fire companies were alerted to assist the Lewes (82) Fire Department with a working structure fire.  Initially, the Lewes Fire Department was dispatched to a chimney fire that was immediately upgraded to a working structure fire.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker (80) from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility.

Command 82 was first arriving unit on scene reporting smoke in the residence with fire in the wall over the fireplace. Engine 82-3 was tasked with the first due assignment advancing a handline into the residence. The fire was quickly knocked down. Ladder 82 had first due special service and took the roof assignment checking for extension around the chimney. The fire was contained to the interior wall above the fireplace.  Other responding departments were assigned to cover ups for the Lewes district.

Emergency response units from Indian River were cancelled prior to arriving at the incident location.
