Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

Vehicles Collide @ Intersection of John J. Williams Hwy. & Long Neck Road

On Thursday, April 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company encountered a second incident in the fire district condition. The initial incident was to assist the Millsboro (83) Fire Company with a field fire incident near Avalon Park. The second incident in the fire district was for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway and Long Neck Road intersection involving two vehicles.

It appears that a red Volkswagen Jetta was traveling south onto Long Neck Road via the John J. Williams Highway intersection and possibly did not remained stopped at the traffic light. The Jetta entered the intersection as was struck by an eastbound Kia Mini Van.

Emergency response units were limited to the Brush #8-00 from the Long Neck facility, the Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware State Police, and the local emergency medical service provider. All other apparatus from Indian River were directed to the initial alert to assist the Millsboro Fire Company.

The local emergency medical service provider did evaluate and transport the occupants of the vehicles and no further information is available regarding their respective conditions.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
