Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Warwick Road, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday, December 30^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway near the intersection of Warwick Road.  It was reported to be a single vehicle versus a utility pole.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Command 80 from the Oak Orchard area and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery as well as incident mitigation and notification of the utility service provider.

It appears that a red Volkswagen Beetle was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and lost control striking a utility pole causing significant damage to the vehicle and snapping the utility pole.  Traffic patterns along John J. Williams Highway were altered during the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

The utility service provider coordinate the utility pole replacement efforts.
