Emergency response units were limited to the Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, the Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware Electric Cooperative personnel and the Delaware State Police. All other apparatus from Indian River was held at their respective stations. It appears that the white box truck type vehicle was traveling south on Long Neck Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking the utility pole causing the pole to snap in two and having utility service debris come to rest in the middle of the roadway blocking all traffic patterns. The northbound silver Chevrolet sedan was not able to identify the falling roadway obstruction and ran over the debris. The local emergency medical service provider did evaluate the occupants of the vehicles and no further information is available regarding their respective conditions. The Delaware Electric Cooperative did provide service personnel to take corrective action in order to mitigate the situation and commence with the utility pole replacement procedures. The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
