On Friday afternoon, March 29th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a field / brush fire incident near Bay Breeze Lane in the Rehoboth Shores development off of Long Neck Road.  The specific origin and location of this incident was within a 1 acre parcel with extremely limited access and involved significant fire conditions.

The respective park manager reported seeing subjects running from the area approximately 45 minutes prior to the detection of the fire.  This also happens to be the sight of numerous suspicious origin incidents since the same time last calendar year.

Emergency response units included:  Brush #80-00, Engine #80-2, Utility 80 with Polaris 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crews were assigned to fully identify and mitigate the incident with extensive fire suppression and saturation efforts as well as scene preservation to assist the Delaware State Fire Marshall with an ongoing criminal investigation into these incidents.

The Delaware State Fire Police assist with scene preservation making limited access to the area.
