Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

On Friday afternoon, March 29th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company received two emergency incidents within five minutes from each other.

The initial incident was a field / brush fire near Breezy Lane in the Rehoboth Shores development and additional information may be forthcoming.

The second incident dispatch was for a motor vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Layton Davis Road.

It appears that single vehicle; a white GMC SUV, was traveling along John J. Williams Highway and struck the utility pole for an unknown reason.  There may have been an issued associated with the vehicle's tire.

The utility pole was completely sheared in half and the traffic patterns along John J. Williams Highway were closed for the duration of the incident. 

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the local emergency service provider.

Emergency response crews were assigned to mitigate the situation by assisting with patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization and traffic control activities for the duration of the incident.

The respective utility companies were notified of the incident and responded accordingly.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.

Crash on Rt24 West of Oak Orchard Slowing Traffic

DelDOT is reporting that Route 24 is closed between Gull Point Road & Layton Davis Road after an accident.

The crash occurred just after 4pm and emergency crews from Indian River Fire Company were called to the scene.
