Nature: Vehicle Fire

Location: WalGreens on John J. Williams Hwy.

Address: 26328 - 26487 Bay Farm Rd Millsboro, DE 1996

On Monday, March 25^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle fire on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity Bay Farm Road.  It was reported to have heavy smoke conditions present.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were assigned to mitigation the situation and suppress the active fire condition as well to provide scene safety and traffic control measures for the duration of the incident. 

Initial fire company personnel arrived an updated the incident response to include a heavy smoke condition with the vehicle fully involved.  All occupants of the vehicle were safely out.

After the fire was suppressed, additional efforts to access the engine compartment and trunk compartments were necessary to fully extinguish the event.

The eastbound traffic along John J. Williams Highway was able to flow without any restrictions; however, the westbound traffic was detoured onto Autumn Road or Bay Farm Road.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
