Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 32743 River Road, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday, December 11^th, the Indian River (80) Volunteer Fire Company and Millsboro (83) Emergency Medical Services were alerted for a vehicle accident at the end of Oak Orchard Road in Oak Orchard.

Emergency response units from the Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerted included emergency medical services from the Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery as well as incident mitigation services.

It appears that the silver Chevrolet sedan failed to navigate the dead-end road by turning right or left at the end of Oak Orchard Road and traveled through a driveway and striking a parked Ford van before finally extending over the waterfront bulkhead and into the water and coming to rest on several pier pilings.  It appears that one patient was transported to nearby medical facilities with minor injuries.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
