Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Friday March 22nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Hollymount Road and Beaver Dam Road. It was reported to have a two vehicle collision involving a Ford Escape and Toyota Corolla.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were assigned to coordinate and assist with patient stabilization, if needed; vehicle stabilization; debris recovery; and incident mitigation items which included but not limited traffic control for the duration of the incident.

It was identified that six persons were occupants of the vehicle and that five would request additional medical observation and were transferred to the nearby medical facilities by the local emergency medical service provider.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

UPDATED – 03/24/2013- The Delaware State Police say the driver of the Toyota, a 29 year old woman from Milton failed to stop at the stop sign and was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.  The driver of the SUV was treated for a broken collarbone.  Officials say a Ford Escape and Toyota Corolla collided in the intersection – which is a 4-way stop.

Crash in Harbeson Injures 5

A crash at Hollymount and Beaver Dam Road yesterday afternoon sent 5 people to area hospitals.  Indian River Volunteer Fire and Emergency crews responded as well as State Police.  Officials say a Ford Escape and Toyota Corolla collided in the intersection – which is a 4-way stop.
