Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Friday evening, December 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and the Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad were alerted for a vehicle accident at the intersection of John J Williams Hwy and Bay Farm Rd. Initial reports advised of a three vehicle rear end type collision with the possibly of one patient.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included securing the vehicles as well as debris and fluid cleanup activities. DELDOT was requested to respond with a sand truck and street sweeper to assist with fluid mitigation efforts. Rescue 80 was cancelled while responding.

It appears that a Nissan SUV struck the rear end of a Ford F150 pick-up which then hit a Porsche SUV while attempting to approach the intersection.  One patient was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional evaluation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control until DELDOT was able to assume responsibility. 

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
