Sunday March, 17 2013 @ 23:23:48 Nature: Structure Fire Location: X From This Address Address: 30999 Vacation Rd., Holiday Pines, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday evening, March 17th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Millsboro (83) volunteer fire companies were alerted for structure fire on Vacation Drive in the Holiday Pines development. It was reported to be a working structure. Upon arrival of Indian River’s Incident Command, it was identified as shed fire with exposure to two manufactured homes. Emergency response units included Engine 80-3 and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as Engine #80-1, Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility. Our mutual aid response included a fire company response from Lewes and Millsboro fire companies, Sussex County Paramedics, and the local emergency medical service provider. The Incident Command Tasks were coordinated by Mario A. Street, Second Assistant Chief, who immediately downgraded the incident to the Indian River units only and cancelled all other responding apparatus. Emergency response crews from 80-3 and 80-1 were assigned to initiate a fire suppression attack line and commence with overhaul and water saturation based upon the quick response of a neighbor who is affiliated with the Millsboro fire company and provided a quick knock down and prevented spread to other units. The Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries associated with the incident. |
