Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

Location: Area Of The American Legion

Address: 26360 - 26433 John J Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday afternoon, March 14th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for motor vehicle collision on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of the American Legion Post. It was reported to be a multiple vehicle collision with possible occupant entrapment.

Emergency response units included: Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, the Sussex County Paramedics, and multiple units from the local emergency medical service providers.

It appears that a white 2 door sedan was traveling eastbound, while a tan 4 door Honda Civic and a 4 door Ford Taurus were traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway. It appears that all vehicles collided on the driver’s side and came to rest on both shoulders of the roadway as well as in the middle of the road. The occupants of the Honda required vehicle extrication measures to depart from the vehicle.

Emergency response crews were assigned to coordinate and assist with patient stabilization, if needed; prepare for vehicle stabilization and commence with extrication measures while the Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close all traffic on John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The local emergency medical service provider did provide pre-hospital emergency services and transported occupants to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
