Nature: Vehicle Accident
Location: 30771 Mount Joy Rd Millsboro, DE 19966
On Thursday afternoon, November 12th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road between Baylis Avenue and Sharkey’s Lane. It was reported to be two vehicles and unknown injuries.
Emergency response crews from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional alerts included the local emergency medical services provider.
Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery as well as incident mitigation. Rescue 80 was assigned to the pick up truck on Mount Joy Road and Engine #80-1 was assigned to the SUV in the Catholic Church parking lot down the street.
It appears that a white Chevrolet pick up was traveling north on Mount Joy Road and a blue GMC Envoy was traveling south when the vehicles collided. The pick up was struck on the driver’s side rear and the SUV was struck on the driver’s side front. The SUV continued traveling down the roadway to the Catholic Church. Both vehicles suffered damage.
The local EMS provider did transport occupants from the pick up for additional observation.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of Mount Joy Road for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
