Monday February, 25 2013 Nature: Construction Demolition Begins Address: IR Main Station – 32628 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE Indian River Pantry Expansion Demolition Begins On Monday, February 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company initiated demolition work in preparation for a kitchen pantry expansion (15’ x 16’ extended pantry) with walk-in refrigerator and freezer unit (13’ x 16’ unit) as well as the emergency siren relocation initiative. Over the past few months, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has been planning and pursuing these renovation and expansion initiatives which commenced with: (1) Choosing an architectural firm and completing drawings and pre-plans; (2) Soliciting a variance request and public hearing; http://www.irvfc.com/gallery.cfm?id=1170 (3) Acquiring adjoining land in order to facilitate acceptance; http://www.irvfc.com/gallery.cfm?id=1163 and http://www.irvfc.com/gallery.cfm?id=1181 (4) Completing the Delaware State Fire Marshall Review Process; (5) Soliciting bidders and bids; (6) Completing the Delaware Board of Public Health Review Process; (7) Completing the Sussex County Building Code Review Process; (8) Completing the Sussex County Engineering Review Process; and (9) Obtaining a Sussex County Building Permit. These duties and responsibilities were assigned to volunteers within the fire company who chaperoned and championed this expansion cause from September 2012 to current. The estimated demolition and construction process will cost approximately $75,000. The specific contractors involved with this initiative include: • M.R. Designs, Inc. of Milton, Delaware was chosen as the architectural firm for the project; and • EZ Builders, Inc. of Milton, Delaware was chosen as the demolition and construction company for the project. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company would like to acknowledge the generous financial contribution of the Ladies Auxiliary of $30,000 in order to make this project possible. Estimated completion date is mid April, 2013. Illustrated herewith is some of the day’s demolition work.
