Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics
Location: Mount Joy Rd and Cordrey Rd Millsboro, DE 19966
Early Monday morning, October 26th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road in the vicinity of Cordrey Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle rollover with entrapment.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Other ancillary alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and the local emergency medical services provider.
Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, preparation for vehicle extrication, traffic control, and assistance with patient stabilization where needed. There was one 21 year female unable to exit the vehicle and removal the roof was required.
It appears that a Chevrolet Colorado pick up was traveling on Mount Joy Road and lost control striking a few trees before overturning against cluster of trees. The occupant of the vehicle was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident. This segment of Mount Joy Road was temporarily closed.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
