Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Layton Davis Rd. and John J Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday morning, October 23th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the area of Layton Davis Road.  It was reported to be a single vehicle accident with a vehicle striking a utility pole and overturning.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  The actual incident location was amended to the intersection of Gull Point Road

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization if needed, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control, and incident mitigation. 

It appears that a silver Suzuki Forenza was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and lost control striking an utility pole and overturning. The Forenza suffered extensive front end damage. The occupant of the vehicle declined additional medical observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police closed John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident with a temporarily detour.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
