Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Mariners Cove ITAO Long Neck Rd and Cove Dr., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday morning, October 22^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck in the area of Mariner’s Cove.  It was reported to be a two vehicle accident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  The actual incident location was amended to Long Neck Road and entrance to Rehoboth Shores.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization if needed, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control, and incident mitigation.  

It appears that a blue Volkswagen EOS sedan was traveling on Long Neck Road and struck the rear of a white Chevrolet work van.  The sedan suffered extensive front end damage. The occupant of the vehicles declined additional medical observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police closed Cannon Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
