Nature: Fire Nature Unknown

ON Wednesday, February 6, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a fire nature unknown on or near Holly Lake Road. 

Emergency response units included Engine #80-2 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility. 

Upon arrival of emergency response apparatus, it was identified that the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Officers were alerted and specifically requested the assistance of the fire department for extinguishment of the fire.

The suspect of the illegal burn was in custody with DNREC and he advised that the complaints were addressing an illegal control burn.

Emergency response assignments included the extinguishment of the fire under the direction of DNREC.

 The DNREC officer will continue the investigation.
