Story

Indian River Offers Condolences …

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hereby extends our deepest sympathy with the passing of Sgt. Jordan Dorman, a volunteer firefighter from Sussex County that joined the United States Army and was fatally injured in a vehicle accident in North Pole, Alaska.

Jordan does have immediate family members in the fire service in Sussex County including but not limited to Indian River.

Recently, many first responders participated in a Bringing Jordan Home event on Thursday, October 8th by offering an apparatus escort from the Maryland / Delaware state line to the funeral home in Ocean View as he was transported from Alaska to BWI and onward to Sussex County.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hereby extends our utmost appreciation for his volunteerism, professional diligence and everlasting commitment while representing the volunteer fire service and his country as a machine gunner in the United States Army. Jordan’s devotion and dedication to the residents of our country and community is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your years of faithful service. May God Bless You and may you Rest in Peace! You will be greatly missed.

Illustrated herewith is are some photographs of the Bringing Home activities.
