Monday January, 14 2013 @ 21:16:54 Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS Address: 25124 - 26243 Cannon Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966 On Monday evening, January 14th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident on Cannon Road. It was reported via the Sussex County Emergency Operations that a single vehicle failed to navigate the curve, overturned, and struck a number of trees. The occupants of the vehicle were reported trapped. First Assistant Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr., coordinated the Incident Command and was able to identify that a red Ford Explorer was traveling west on Cannon Road approaching Mount Joy Road and failed to navigate the curve, lost control and overturned, striking a number of trees. The occupants were self-extricated prior to the arrival of any emergency response apparatus from Indian River. Emergency response apparatus included Rescue 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility. Emergency response crew assignments were to evaluate and stabilize the vehicle while the Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident. The occupants of the vehicle declined any additional pre-hospital emergency care and were turned over to the Delaware State Police. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
