On Friday afternoon, January 4th, the Rehoboth Beach (86), Indian River (80), and Bethany Beach (70) volunteer fire companies as well as the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Trooper 2 Aviation, DNREC – Marine Police, and the United States Coast Guard – Indian River Inlet. It was reported to be a vessel overturned approximately 1,000 yards off-shore with occupants in the water. The incident location was to be located in the Rehoboth’s fire District in the area of Savage’s Ditch.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-08 with 80 Marine 1 from the Oak Orchard facility; Brush #80-0 with 80 Marine 2 and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility. All vessel response was to the Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp with request to prepare to launch.

80 Marine 2 was assigned to launch and evaluate the Rehoboth Bay area while all other vessels were to hold at the launching areas. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit provided aerial observations.

It appears that a salvage company was towing a recovered vessel. After further review, it was determined that the incident location was off of Pot Nets Creekside.

There were no additional injuries or incidents associated with the situation.
