Nature: Indian River Continues Milestone RecognitionAs Indian River continues to address the implications of the COVID-19 quarantine and social distancing requirements, we continue a proactive approach to spreading the word regarding fire prevention and fire safety as well as learning that social distancing is equally essential during this coronavirus pandemic.Earlier, a few members of Indian River’s Fire Prevention Committee were performing fire prevention activities and came across a young man named Joshua who wished to have a real firefighter helmet and see a fire truck.Joshua is a six (6) year old and has some extremely challenging health conditions. The Fire Prevention Committee worked to make Joshua’s wishes become a reality!Indian River delivered Engine #80-3 to Joshua’s house and presented him a certificate making him a Special Member of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. Joshua was also presented with a fire company t-shirt, a gift certificate from Nana & Pop’s Ice Cream, as well as some other items that were donated to Indian River for Joshua which included a shark watch, a dolphin watch and a surfboard necklace. Joshua was also presented with a fire prevention bag that contained coloring books, crayons, pencils and fold up fire trucks.Additionally, Joshua was provided a tour of the entire fire truck and has opportunity to see the equipment on the truck.Illustrated herewith are various photographs of this initiative.
