Nature: Structure Fire
Location: 33065 Ambling Way Millsboro, DE 19966
On Thursday evening, September 3rd, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82) and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Ambling Way in the Peninsula off of Bay Farm Road. It was reported to be a multi-residential structure fire with throughout the three-story structure.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the local emergency medical provider and the Sussex County Paramedics.
Emergency response crew assigned search and identify the source of the incident, secure a water supply, placement of ladders to permit structure access if needed, suppression and ventilation where needed, as well as salvage and recovery operations where applicable.
It appears that the three-story was filled with smoke and odor of burning, the search was isolated to the second floor kitchen area in the walls behind the kitchen cabinetry. The Millsboro Fire Company was assigned to ladder the B-side of the structure and provide manpower resources, Lewes Fire Department was requested to assist with origin determination, suppression, and ventilation.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and scene access.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
