Saturday, December, 15 2012 Nature: Vehicle Accident Location: Basin Road (Highway 141) west of New Journal @ I-95 Southbound Ramp Address: Highway 141 @ Interstate 95 On Saturday afternoon, December 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company provided a stand-by crew to allow Wilmington Manor to attend their annual fire company banquet. While attending Wilmington Manor, we were dispatched to a vehicle collision on Basin Road in the vicinity of the News Journal Building. Upon arrival of emergency response apparatus, the location was determined to be in the Highway 141 construction zone near the southbound lanes of Interstate 95. Emergency response units included: Rescue 28; Ladder 28; Ambulance 28; Ambulance 17; and the Traffic Control Unit 28 as well as the Delaware State Police. Emergency response assignments included but not limited to providing vehicle stabilization, assisting with patient stabilization, and coordinating traffic control. It appears that a white Hyundai 4-door compact sedan was traveling westbound on Highway 141 and was struck from behind by a Chrysler Pacifica mini-van causing significant damage to both vehicles and injuring occupants of both vehicles. |
