Friday November, 23 2012 @ 21:34:34 Nature: Chimney Fire Address: 4 Cochise Trail, Indian Summer Village, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Friday, November 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a chimney fire incident on Cochise Trail, Indian Summer Village off of John J. Williams Highway. It was reported to be a residential structure fire with a potential fire inside the chimney with sparks and debris being emitted from this area. Emergency response units included: Engine #80-1 and Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility. Emergency response units were assigned to coordinate an interior and exterior evaluation of the residential structure, interview the residential occupants, and monitor the internal and external areas via thermal imaging camera analyzing temperature conditions. The fire place fire and logs were removed for additional evaluation and the temperature conditions were normal. Engine #80-1 was requested to establish the initial evaluation, set up and deploy ground ladders and evaluate the roof top and chimney area. The other responding apparatus were assigned to assist with the aforementioned assignments. The situation was placed under control after evaluation and the emergency response units were permitted to return to station quarters. There was minimal damage, if any and residential homeowners were advised to have a chimney sweep process completed by a contracting entity. |
