On Saturday afternoon, August 22nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm activation on Lot E143 – Stem Street, Pot Nets Bayside.  It was determined a grease fire in the kitchen activated the alarm system.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Command 80, Engines #80-3 and 80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Upon arrival of 80 Command, it was determined the homeowner had an already extinguished grease fire on their stovetop. Crews from Engine 80-3 and Engine 80-1 checked the surrounding areas for fire extension and utilized positive pressure ventilation to remove smoke from the residence.  Tanker 80 was returned while responding.  Quick actions by the homeowner led to minimal damage.
