Coastal Flood & High Wind Warning in Effect A significant coastal storm has developed overnight and is starting to bring high winds and heavy rain to Delmarva throughout the day today into tonight (Wednesday, 11/07/2012). Wind could gust to near 45 miles per hour on the beaches with some beach erosion possible. Over two inches of rain is also possible in some areas in Thursday morning and this rain may change to or mix with snow before ending Thursday afternoon. A high wind warning remains in effect for the Delaware beaches and inland Sussex County through tonight. There is also a coastal flood warning in effect for the Delaware beaches, inland Sussex and Kent County from 11 a.m. today until 8 a.m. Thursday. • A strong coastal nor’easter will affect the region on November 7th & 8th. • Moderate coastal flooding is likely during this storm; the high tides of most concern are the ones around midday Wednesday, November 7th and the following high tide Wednesday night. • There will be moderate to severe beach erosion during this event. • This nor’easter will have greater impact than usual because of the serious impacts from Coastal Storm Sandy. • There is a threat of snowfall with this storm; some locations may see over 3 inches. • Now that the storm is upon us, you need to monitor the latest forecast & warning information at http://www.erh.noaa.gov/phi/
