Nature: Funeral Services – Life Member & Past Ladies Auxiliary President Norma "Jean" Moore

On Monday, July 27 commencing at approximately 9 a.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company paid tribute and participated in the funeral services for Life Member and Past President – Norma "Jean" Moore in order to bid farewell to one of its staunch supporters.

Jean was an active part of the Ladies Auxiliary for more than 49 years and held the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, and served on many committees throughout her years of dedicated and diligent service.

Jean was an avid player of Bingo, a devoted volunteer, and attended many events hosted by the Indian River Volunteer Fire Co., Inc. The funeral services were officiated by Rev. J. Allen Miller Chaplainof the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and of the Community Church of Oak Orchard.

Jean’s funeral procession originated at Melson’s Funeral Home in Long Neck, and traveled north on Long Neck Road, turning left on John J. Williams Highway, left on Oak Orchard Road, right on Chief’s Road, left on River Road, and proceeded to Oak Orchard Road, and stopped in front of Indian River’s Main Station where the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center sounded her last alarm. The funeral procession then continued past Jean’s place of residence where Ladder 80 paid tribute and hosted a large 20 x 30 American Flag  in front of the family homestead.  The procession was then onward to the place of Interment at the Millsboro Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware.

A reception followed the services at the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company Main Station Memorial Hall.
