Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: 31128 Phillips Branch Rd., Harbeson, DE 19951

 

On Friday afternoon, July 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Phillips Branch Road between Holly Lake Road and Hollymount Road.  It was reported to be involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2) as well as the local emergency medical services provider.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization if needed, fluid and debris recovery where needed, traffic control, and overall incident mitigation efforts. The aviation unit was cancelled while responding.

It appears that a maroon Acura sedan was attempt to turn around and was in the path of the motorcyclist that was traveling on Phillips Branch Road when the incident occurred. The motorcyclist was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the closure of Phillip Branch Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

While Indian River was responding to this incident, a second alarm was dispatched via the Sussex County Emergency Operations as follows:

Nature: Transformer Fire

Location: 24759 Rivers Edge Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

Tanker 80 and Engine #80-1 were redirected to a second emergency within the fire district.
