Tuesday September, 25 2012 @ 15:56:25 Nature: Woods Fire Address: 32251 Mariners Way, Millsboro, DE 19966 Cross Streets: Dolphin Drive & John J. Williams Highway On Tuesday afternoon, September 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a reported woods fire on Mariners Way in the Woods of Herring Creek off of John J. Williams Highway. Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr., was in the area and responded directly to the incident location and determined that the incident included approximately 20 foot x 30 foot area of woods and marshland was involved. Emergency response units included Brush #80-0 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-00 from the Long Neck facility. Emergency response crews were assigned to initiate fire suppression measures with booster lines from the brush trucks with wet water, a fire suppressant agent as well as rakes and other tools. The incident was placed under control and the origin of the incident is pending an investigation.
