Nature:  Assist Delaware State Police – Traffic Control

Location:  John J. Williams Highway @ Legion Road

On Sunday, September 16th, the Delaware State Fire Police assigned to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company were requested to assist the Delaware State Police with traffic control to permit a property damage vehicle accident to be investigated and cleared.

It appears that a silver Kia SUV was traveling west on John J. Williams Highway approaching the intersection and was struck from behind by a white Chevrolet contractor’s style van. It appears that the Kia was slowing or attempting to turn left on Legion Road prior to the collision.

The impact caused substantial damage to both vehicles and caused disruptions to normal traffic patterns for the duration of the incident.

There were no personal injuries associated with the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Police were requested to provide traffic control assistance.

First Assistant Chief Ryan Mock was traveling west on John J. Williams Highway and came upon the incident and requested such assistance.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
