Saturday September, 15 2012 Nature: Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association (DVFA) 18th Annual Conference & 92nd Annual Parade Address: Kent County – Dover, DE On Saturday, September 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and many other fire companies within the State of Delaware and surrounding areas participated in the capstone of the 92nd Annual Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association’s Parade. This event was held in Dover. The Grand Marshall for the Parade was William F. Tobin, Jr., who is a Life Member of Memorial Volunteer Fire Company and an Honorary Member of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Co., Inc. Indian River entered the following emergency response units into the parade for judging: • 80 Marine 1 - http://www.irvfc.com/apparatus.cfm?a=27 o Awarded Best Appearing Marine Rescue Vessel • Utility 80-08 (not judged utilized to pull marine unit) - http://www.irvfc.com/apparatus.cfm?a=32 • Retired Engine #80-3 - http://www.irvfc.com/apparatus.cfm?a=6 o Awarded 2nd Place Best Appearing Pumper 1959 to 1984 • New Engine #80-3 – http://www.irvfc.com/apparatus.cfm?a=17 and http://www.irvfc.com/apparatus.cfm?a=24 • Polaris 80 - http://www.irvfc.com/apparatus.cfm?a=28 o Awarded Best Appearing Special Unit Illustrated herewith are various photographs of the event. Indian River did receive three judging awards as illustrated above. A pre-arranged stand-by crew from Chichester Fire Department attended to the fire district of Indian River while units and personnel participated in the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association activities in Dover, Delaware.
