Tuesday September, 11 2012 Nature: 9/11 Memorial Remembrance On Tuesday morning, September 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company joined many communities around the world to mark the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and that took the lives of nearly 3,000 people. Representatives of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company attended the memorial services of the Oak Orchard-Riverdale American Legion Post #28. This event was designated to remember the terrorist attack against the United States on September 11, 2001 will be forever remembered as a day that shook the foundations of our largest buildings and families, but this date did not touch the foundation of the United States of America and the emergency response services. As first responders, we will always remember these acts against our brothers and sisters in the emergency service environment. We will always remember where we were on September 11, 2001 and we will always remember how we felt – the emptiness in our hearts, our desire to locate our loved ones, and the desire to re-act. We will remember the sudden end that these despicable acts of terror brought amongst us. As first responders, we will cherish the brotherhood that these acts attempted to deteriorate and destroy. As first responders, we will continue to honor our lost loved ones. As first responders we will continue to respond to those in need. As first responders, we will never forget the brotherhood that holds the fabric of America together. Today (09/11/2012), as first responders participate in numerous memorial services throughout the states and within the State of Delaware remembering the loved ones that perished as a result of these acts – we recognize the continual suffering and grief that lingers on. We ask for your thoughts and prayers to the families, friends and loved ones that have given so much. Today (09/11/2012) as we remember the basic principles that the United States of America is built upon with democracy and freedom reigning high and that no act of terrorism can dismantle this foundation.
