Nature: Appliance Fire – Ocean Grill

Location: 26089 Shoppes of Long Neck, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday, May 24th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an appliance fire at Ocean Grill in the Shoppes of Long Neck commercial development off of Long Neck Road.  It was reported to have an appliance fire in the kitchen area of the commercial structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80, from the Oak Orchard facility; Engines #80-3, #80-1, and Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional alerts included the Delaware State Fire Marshal.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression, discontinuation of utility and propane services, evaluation of facilities for fire extensions, positive pressure ventilations, overhaul where needed, and traffic control.  Engine #80-3 arrived and initiated fire suppression activities including utility service discontinuation.  Engine #80-1 was assigned to the rear of the structure, Ladder 80 was assigned to access the roof area of the structure via the A/B corner while interior crews continued their interior evaluations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
