Saturday August, 25 2012 @ 22:49:13 Nature: Service Call Location: On Dock (Pot Nets Seaside) Address: 25 - 26798 Otter Way Millsboro, DE 19966 On Saturday evening, August 25, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a service call to assist with dewatering a sinking vessel on Otter Way near Curlew Drive in the Pot Nets Seaside development. It appears that the vessel started taking on water during the intense period of inclement weather which dumped excessive amounts of rain on Sussex County. The vessel did substantially sink and the tidal waters were flowing freeing in and around the stern area. This prohibited the dewatering pumps to keep up with the water conditions. Emergency response apparatus included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Incident Command 80, Brush #80-00 and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility. Efforts to dewater the vessel were unsuccessful and the owner was notified to contact Tow Boat US for assistance possibly tomorrow based upon the inclement weather.
