Indian River & Lewes Recognize Health Care Workers –
On Friday, May 8th, the Lewes (82) and Indian River (80) fire companies attended Beebe Hospital and seven (7) other nursing facilities in a show of support and gratitude for the frontline health care workers at the hospital and local nursing home facilities with an acknowledgement parade. This parade was intended as a recognition effort in honor of National Nurses Week which traditionally is held in May of every year.
Emergency vehicles from Lewes (82) and Indian River (80) as well as other personal vehicles sounded their sirens, horns, and flashed their lights while thanking hospital and other health caregivers in a show of support as they drove around the facilities. Other ancillary recognition efforts by Indian River were bestowed upon Mid Atlantic Family Practice in Millsboro for their continued healthcare efforts as well.
Lewes and Indian River fire companies were honored to be able to thank these healthcare workers at their facilities for their dedicated service to our communities.
These health caregivers are working on the frontlines of the pandemic and our communities are grateful for their service and sacrifice and we need to clearly illustrate our appreciation while still maintaining appropriate social distancing requirements.
Thank you for all the healthcare workers that offer compassion and care on a daily basis. The dedication of your teams toward this ultimate goal is invaluable and often underappreciated. You should know that no matter what your role is, you all play a vital part in the well-being of these patients – both physically and mentally.
As you are aware, there is a growing concern in our county and state about COVID-19. As of today, there are many confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sussex County and many are taking numerous precautions to keep our healthcare workers and first responders safe.
Indian River offers this token of our appreciation in recognition of National Nurses Week and wishes to say thank you during these stressful times! We cannot express our gratitude and thanks enough!
Thank you for your service. May God Bless and Be Safe!.
