Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS

On Thursday evening, August 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. It was reported at a motorcyclist and deer collided on Hollymount Road causing injury to the motorcyclist.

It appears that two motorcyclists were traveling west on Hollymount Road approaching the intersection of Indian Mission Road when a deer entered the roadway causing one of the cyclist to strike the deer. The deer did not survive the injuries associated with the collision.

The local emergency medical service provider transported one cyclist to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control while sections of Hollymount Road were closed to thru traffic.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

UPDATED: Motorcyclist Hurt After Colliding with Deer in Harbeson

UPDATED STORY by Kelli Steele 08.24.12:  A motorcyclist collided with a deer Thursday night in Harbeson.

Delaware State Police and firemen from Indian River got the call about the crash just after 10 p.m. It happened on westbound Hollymount Road near the intersection with Indian Mission Road.

49-year-old Kevin Velez of Harbeson was taken to Beebe Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Velez was cited for DUI, driving with a suspended license, not having proof of insurance and not having a registration.

10:10pm – Emergency crews from Indian River Vol. Fire Co are on the scene of a crash just east of Indian Mission Road (Rt 5) and Hollymount Road in Harbeson.  Expect Hollymount Road to be closed between Indian Mission and Beaver Dam Roads while crews investigate the scene.
