Long Neck Elementary School PTO hosts ‘Teacher Parade’ as a way of staying connected to students
OAK ORCHARD – LONG NECK, Delaware – Staff members from Long Neck Elementary School held a “Teacher Parade” on Friday, April 24th, as a way of showing their love and support for their students during these unprecedented times.
Recently, the State of Delaware announced that school buildings will be closed for the duration of the current school year. During this pandemic process, both teachers and students say they are struggling with the reality that they may not be able to see each other face-to-face for extended periods of time.
In an effort to continue to stay connected to their students, while still abiding by the Stay at Home order, Long Neck Elementary School staff hosted a “Teacher Parade” which entailed staff and teachers driving by their student’s communities and/or homes with handmade signs.
The Teacher Parade began at 10 a.m., in the Long Neck communities and commenced with a vehicle from the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. The Long Neck Elementary School is a critical part of the community and Indian River VFC wanted to participate in this learning community to reinforcement the concept that everyone is in this pandemic together.
