Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

Address: John J Williams Hwy., Oak Orchard Road & Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, 19966

On Saturday afternoon, August 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Oak Orchard Road. It was reported to be two vehicles in the middle of the intersection and unknown patient injury information.

Emergency response personnel were able to identify that two vehicles were involved at the intersection with eastbound lanes of John W. Williams Highway as well as Oak Orchard Road and Mount Joy Road traffic being completely blocked, as well.

Emergency response units included: Utility 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80-3 from the Long Neck facility. Utility 80 was traveling north on Oak Orchard Road and happened to come upon the incident.

All emergency responding unit assignments included vehicle stabilization; scene stabilization; patient assessment and evaluation; traffic control and debris mitigation. It appears that a red General Motors type sedan and the green Ford Ranger collided for an unknown reason at the intersection. Both vehicles sustained damage and were towed by Bunting's Garage.

The local emergency medical service provider assisted with patient care.

The Delaware State Fire Police were assigned to coordinate traffic control. Traffic along John J. Williams Highway, Oak Orchard Road and Mount Joy road were limited to one lane for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
