Attempts To Keep First Responders Healthy & Safe Amid Crisis
During these unprecedented times, illustrated are a few suggestions to let everyone know that Delaware's emergency first responders are here to help you in your time of need.
With that being said, we need you to help us and understand the essentials.
-
Please stop any unnecessary travel.
-
Please practice social distancing.
This will limit your exposure and chances of becoming infected as well as reducing the spread of this very dangerous virus and illness that is amongst us.
If you need essential supplies and must go out, only send one person to gather them and abide the precautionary guidelines. Stores are now limiting the number of persons in their buildings under a directive from the Executive Orders enacted by the Governor of the State of Delaware.
Accordingly, Delaware officials expect the rise in cases to spike in the next 2-3 weeks. This has the potential to put a strain on statewide emergency services.
We ask if you or someone you care for needs to call 9-1-1 for emergency services, be very concise and clear in describing your symptoms, and listen carefully to the questions the emergency dispatchers are asking.
Callers reporting emergencies could be asked about out-of-state travel, known exposure to the virus, and any symptoms they may have, such as fever, coughing or shortness of breath. Identify if you have been tested.
Depending on the likelihood that the caller is a COVID-19 patient, the first responders will wear varying levels of protective gear. This will help the first responders to be properly protected when they arrive at your location and will better able assistance to be rendered in these times of need.
