Nature: A Message from the Chief - The Volunteer Fire Service
Location: Indian River Fire District
Due to the heightened risk and exposure to the infamous COVID-19 Pandemic and the recent State of Emergency Declaration by the Honorable John Carney, Governor of the State of Delaware has closure of public schools, restaurants, libraries, government offices – county and state, and many public meetings.
The one thing that will not be shut down is the volunteer fire service in the State of Delaware. As officers, we have chosen to protect our own, our communities, as well as our fire districts. The volunteer fire service personnel will focus on taking a proactive and preventative approach to keep communities safe. While undertaking precautions and many other safety measures with respect to the pandemic coronavirus - we will respond as needed within our fire district.
It is not an easy or popular decision to make these decisions; however, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company believes this is an imperative decision in order to promote safety and well-being of our community residents and fire district.
Please keep in mind that there are things every Delawarean can do to stay healthy.
-
Wash your hands.
-
Cover your cough.
-
Stay home from work or school if you are sick.
-
Limit your interaction with large groups of people especially important for at-risk populations.
