Wednesday July, 4 2012 @ 15:20:00 Nature: Automatic Fire Alarm Address: 123 White Pine Dr Millsboro, DE 19966 On Wednesday afternoon, July 4th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm (AFA) incident at 123 White Pine Drive in the Pines of Long Neck development off of John J. Williams Highway. Emergency response units included: Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility. Engine #80-5 under the direction of Derek Pry, arrived on scene, reported a residential manufactured home with addition and nothing visible from the exterior of the residential structure from the roadway. A quick perimeter evaluation yielded some concern while a brief interior evaluation immediately identified a smoke condition. The incident was upgraded from an automatic fire alarm incident to an actual fire condition but limited response to Indian River units. Engine #80-1 under the direction of Chief Steven Deery, arrived on scene, transferred command, requested a fire marshal to respond and continued to mitigate the incident. Rescue 80 was assigned to assist with the residential evaluation. It was identified as a possible electrical issue ignited the enclosed porch attachments of the residential structure and caused damage. The interior ceiling, walls, furniture, and flooring to the porch sustained damaged. It was reported that the residential homeowner was able to access a garden hose to assist with extinguishment. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. |
