Location: Roll-Over - Long Neck Rd and Bayshore Dr., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday, March 9^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of Bayshore Drive.  It was reported to be a two-car collision with one vehicle roll-over.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional alerted included the Sussex County Paramedic, the local emergency medical services provider, and the Delaware State Police Aviation.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control with the closure of Long Neck Road between School Lane/Banks Road and John J. Williams Highway, fluid and debris recovery.

It appears that a Jeep Grand Cherokee was struck the rear of a Nissan Quest mini-van at or the entrance to Bayshore Drive.  The Jeep overturned and the Nissan traveled to the opposite shoulder of the roadway.  Both vehicles sustained significant damage.  At least one of the vehicles’ occupant(s) were transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the assistance of the Delaware Department of the Transportation.  This segment of Long Neck Road was closed for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
