Tuesday June, 19 2012 @ 17:24:00 Nature: Child Locked in Vehicle Location: Food Lion (80) Address: 24832 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966 On Tuesday afternoon, June 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for child locked in a vehicle in the Food Lion Shopping Center on John J. Williams Highway. The incident was of concern because of the child’s age, the heat with high humidity and the windows rolled up in the vehicle. Emergency incident response included: Brush #80-00 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility. Indian River’s initial concern was the welfare of the child and a quick evaluation to ascertain the most feasible method to access the child. Immediate action to access the vehicle via the BigEasy vehicle unlocking tool was initiated. After a few initial attempts, access was gained via the driver’s side door and the child was removed from the vehicle and did not need any additional medical evaluations.
