Nature: Assist Millsboro (83) - Residential Structure Fire

Location: 26036 Oak St Millsboro, DE 19966

 

On Sunday, March 1st, the Indian River (80) Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist Millsboro (83) Fire Company with a residential structure fire on Oak Street off of Mount Joy Road.  It was reported as a structure fire with smoke showing from the eaves of the residential structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included water supply to Ladder 83, crew members to the assistance with interior fire suppression, ventilation and other assignments as delegated, and establishment of manpower pool.

It was reported that a heavy smoke condition was visible from Route #30 area and that responding apparatus should be notified that this was a working incident.  Incident Command 83 arrived initiated directions for responding apparatus to adhere too.  Ladder 83 arrived and instructed to initiate fire suppression lines for an interior attack.  Tanker 80 arrived and was ordered to establish a water supply for Ladder 83 and assist with fire suppression.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control in the Mount Joy area for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
