On Monday, June 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was requested to assist Lewes (82), Milton (85), and Rehoboth (86) on a working structure on the Lewes-Georgetown Highway. Emergency incident response included: Engines #80-3 the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 the Oak Orchard facility. Engine #80-3 was assigned to assist with the fire suppression activities while Tanker 80 was returned will enroute to the incident. No injuries were reported.

(3) WGMD Radio Station - 92.7 Fire on Route 9 west of Lewes remains under investigation The cause of a fire at a home on Route 9 this morning remains under investigation, but state Fire Marshal investigators say the blaze began in the family room. Fire crews from Lewes, Rehoboth, Milton and Indian River responded to the 11:30am call and found smoke showing when they arrived. The home was equipped with working smoke detectors and there were no injuries – damage is estimated at $150,000. ——————————————-
NEWS RELEASE: The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a dwelling fire that occurred on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 11:31 am on the 29000 block of Lewes Georgetown Highway in Lewes, Delaware The Lewes Fire Department responded to the scene and was assisted by the Rehoboth Beach, Milton and Indian River Fire Departments. Upon arrival they encountered smoke showing. The home was equipped with working smoke detectors. No injuries were reported. Damages have been estimated at $150,000. Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigators have determined that the fire originated in the family room of the home and the cause is still under investigation. |
