On Tuesday morning, May 29th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a car fire on Pebble Drive in the Pot Nets Coveside development off of Long Neck Road.

Emergency response personnel on-scene advised that this incident is a working alarm with a vehicle, black Volkswagen Jetta, fully involved and exposures to the residential structure. 

Emergency incident response included Engines #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.

Engine #80-1 was assigned to coordinate an initial fire suppression attack for the vehicle and advance a second fire suppression line to mitigate the exposure concern with the residential structure. Engine #80-3 was assigned to coordinate water resources for Engine #80-1 and assist with fire suppression and exposure protection assignments while Rescue 80 coordinated the air supply replenishment functions.  An additional task to utilize the Hurst tool to gain access to the engine compartment was required to fully extinguish the incident.

There was no firefighter or residential occupant injuries.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

The residential structure did sustain damage due to the excessive heat.

Car Destroyed By Fire in Pot Nets Coveside

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating a car fire on Pebble Drive in the Pot Nets Coveside Development in Long Neck Tuesday morning. 

Firemen from Indian River were called to the home around 5:30 a.m.; arriving units found a black Volkswagen Jetta fully engulfed in flames.

No injuries were reported, however the home did sustain damage due to the excessive heat.
