Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

Location: Malone’s Bayside Development on Long Neck Road

On Saturday afternoon, May 26th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of Malone’s Bayside development. It was reported to be a two vehicle collision.

It appears that a cream colored Cadillac was traveling south on Long Neck Road attempting to turn left into Malone’s Bayside development and a black Ford F150 pick-up was traveling north on Long Neck Road. These vehicles collided causing the Cadillac to rotate counter-clock-wise and come to rest in the northbound travel lane of the roadway. The Ford F150 continued to travel onto the right shoulder of the roadway striking various residential type landscape bulk-heading, development signage, and brushes.

Emergency response units from Indian River included: Rescue 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard station and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck station, the Delaware State Fire Police, and the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response crews were assigned to coordinate vehicle stabilization, if needed; fluid retention and recovery where needed; scene security; and traffic control measures for the duration of the incident.

Pursuant to the commentary tendered by the local emergency medical service provider the vehicle occupants declined additional medical observations.

This section of Long Neck Road was temporarily closed for the initial mitigation assignments.

The Delaware State Fire Police were required to remain on-scene to assist the Delaware State Police with traffic control pending arrival of the towing entities.

DSP Investigating Long Neck Crash

Delaware State Police are investigating a two vehicle accident that occurred Saturday afternoon on Long Neck Road near Malone’s Bayside Development.

The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. as a Cadillac that was southbound on Long Neck Road attempted to turn left into the development and collided with a northbound Ford F-150 pickup.

The collision caused the Cadillac to rotate counter-clock-wise and come to rest in the northbound travel lane; the pickup traveled onto the right shoulder and hit some residential-type landscape bulk-heading, development signage and bushes.

EMS personnel treated both drivers at the scene for minor injures.
