Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS

On Saturday, April 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Oak Orchard Road in the vicinity of Chiefs Road.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, the Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware State Police, Life Net Aviation, as well as the Sussex County Paramedics.

The emergency response crews were requested to evaluate and stabilize the vehicles, if needed; assist with patient care, if needed; and coordinate traffic control for the duration of the incident. Additional crews were assigned to coordinate a landing zone for the incoming aviation unit.

It appears that motorcycle was traveling south on Oak Orchard Road and collided with the dark blue Saturn that was departing from Chiefs Road onto Oak Orchard Road in a northerly direction.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures for the duration of the incident. 

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

Two injured after serious motorcycle crash near Oak Orchard

Two people were sent to the hospital last night after a crash involving a motorcycle occurred just before midnight.

State Police say a motorcycle driven by 35 year old Michael Vincent of Millsboro was southbound on Oak Orchard Road when a car driven by 23 year old Emma Glasscock of Lewes turned into the motorcycle’s path after stopping on Chief Road. A passenger on the motorcycle, 29 year old Julia Vincent of Millsboro who was wearing a helmet, was ejected and landed in the roadway – she was flown to Christiana Hospital and is in critical condition. Michael Vincent was not wearing a helmet and was also ejected. He’s at Christiana with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

Millsboro, DE- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a serious motorcycle crash in which two people were injured. The incident occurred Saturday April 7th around 11:45 p.m. when Michael J. Vincent was operating his 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle with his passenger, Julia R. Vincent, southbound on Oak Orchard Road. Emma K. Glasscock was operating a 1999 Saturn SC eastbound on Chief Road approaching the stop sign for Oak Orchard Road. After stopping, Glasscock began to turn northbound on Oak Orchard Road and pulled out in front of the motorcycle striking it nearly head-on.

Julia Vincent, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the roadway. She was removed from the scene by EMS and flown to Christiana Hospital where she is currently listed in critical condition. Michael Vincent, who was not wearing a helmet, was also ejected from the motorcycle. He was removed from the scene by EMS and flown to Christiana Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Glasscock was not injured in the crash.

The roadway was closed for over an hour as the crash was investigated and cleared.

The investigation into the crash by the Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing and charges are pending.
