Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday evening, January 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and the local emergency medical provider were alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at the Oak Orchard Road intersection.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision in the right turn lanes of Oak Orchard Road onto John J. Williams Highway.

Emergency response apparatus from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Command 80 as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  All other emergency response units were cancelled.

Emergency response crews were assigned to assist with traffic control, vehicle stabilization and incident mitigation.

It appears that both vehicles were attempting to turn onto John J. Williams Highway from Oak Orchard Road.  A black Nissan Altima sedan was attempting to access John J. Williams Highway when it was hit from behind by a black Kia sedan causing minor damage to both vehicles.  The right turn lanes were closed were closed for the duration of the incident and traffic patterns were amended during the mitigation phase of the incident.  It appears that one person was transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance during the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
